Assessment

Upon enrolment, you will be automatically registered for the course examination in 12 months’ time.

All assessments are constructed to evaluate your knowledge and understanding while at the same time refining and expanding your intellectual and transferable skills.
In-programme (not graded):

  • Compulsory discussion activities

  • Self-assessment and review activities


End of programme final assessment(graded):

  • Online examination consisting of 4 papers:-

    • Paper 1; Multiple Choice Questions (25%)

      • 40 multiple choice questions - duration 45 mins

    • Paper 2; Short Answer Questions (25%)

      • 15 questions - duration 1 hour 15 mins + 15 mins preview time

    • Paper 3; Data interpretation (20%)

      • 5 multipart questions - duration 1 hour + 10 mins preview time

    • Paper 4; Specialism: data interpretation and case scenarios (30%)

      • 4 multipart questions - duration 1 hour + 10 mins preview time

Examination

The examination for the 2025-26 cohort will take place online over the second weekend in May 2026 (currently the 10th /11th May 2026). 
If unsuccessful, the resit examination will take place over the second weekend in Nov 2026.

Results
Results are moderated and ratified by the BBTS exam board and Manchester University.  

  • Results are emailed within 12 weeks following the examination date. 

  • Successful students receive a hard copy BBTS certificate and Manchester University transcript (by post)

  • Successful student names (not grades) are published in Bloodlines


Grounds for Appeal

Exam candidates have the right to appeal.  This should be submitted in writing (email is fine) within 4 weeks of the date of result issue and must include the grounds for which you are claiming.  Please read the 'Grounds for Appeal' document below:
