Brief Description
This session is a 'back-to-basics' overview and review of the manufacture, use and development of platelets and plasma components within the UK. It is aimed at attendees wishing to expand, or refresh, their knowledge on the basics in this field. For example you may be a student, trainee, just starting as a qualified practitioner, or are simply looking to find out more about a specialism different to your own.
Intended Audience
For beginners, returning to work, and ‘adjunct’ healthcare professionals. This will also provide some underpinning knowledge for the SaBTO and Blood Components session.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
outline, describe and discuss the manufacture of plasma components in the UK
outline the basic clinical need for such components and be aware of potential alternatives
describe and discuss the continuing development of plasma components
